Significance of Ayushya Homam

Ayushya homam is performed to worship the god of life (Ayur Devatha) to bestow long life. This homam is usually performed on the Star (Nakshaktra) birth date. It is customary to do it on the first birth day of children. By performing the Ayushya homa, the evil effects caused by tithi, vara, nakshatra are eradicated. It bestows longevity and good health.
