Significance of Annaprasanam
Annaprasanam is the ceremony to initiate the first solid food to a child. A priest performs this ritual while making a wish for the child's good health. It is usually held in the fifth month after birth. In addition to the honey, milk and curd given during the naming ceremony, rice is now added as the child starts eating solid foods.
